For those who don’t follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you may not know that after nine months of freelancing (read: unemployment), I’ve finally found a company that I’m excited to get started working for.

My New Employer: DLC Resources
DLC Resources is a large-scale landscape management company that serves master-planned communities like Anthem and Verrado here in Phoenix. The job is a bit of a career change for me, as I’ll be training to be the marketing manager, rather than strictly design. After 25+ years of design & production, I’m happy to move-on to a new challenge – especially since DLC is such a great company, according to Janet, who has worked their for a few years now.
I’m pretty excited not only about what I can bring to the table at DLC, but what I can learn from the great people who are already there.

My latest article for The Apple Blog covers my thoughts on the lack of an Apple netbook, and why I don’t think we’ll ever see one from Apple.
I’ve actually grown quite tired of hearing about sub $500 laptops from people who probably have no idea what that $500 gets them (or doesn’t, as the case may be).
Most Mac users don’t want a stripped-down, barely usable laptop – no matter what the price is. The MacBook Air is a powerful, light-weight laptop and gives you everything you need at half the weight of most laptops. If you think you need a “netbook,” think again!

GD USA Magazine
If you happen to be a designer, and you happen to have a subscription to
GD USA (Graphic Design USA) magazine, I’m quoted in an article in their 2009 Annual Print Survey issue.
On page 48 of the June 2009 issue, I’m quoted in a section covering the importance of choosing the best paper for your print jobs. The entire issue covers various aspects of the printing industry as a whole, as well as some trends beginning to form.
By the way, GD USA is a fantastic magazine for the paper sample inserts alone!
