No More Stealing Shampoo From Hotels

Admit it, you do it every time. You take the mini-shampoo, conditioner and various mouth wash and skincare bottles from the hotel room when you leave. That’s ok, we all do it. But those days are coming to a close.

Marriott, which has more than 7,000 hotels under 30 brand names, will eliminate 500 million small bottles a year, or 1.7 million pounds of plastic. That’s a lot of free shampoos you won’t be grabbing on your way out the door.

Obviously, this is spectacular for the environment. Millions upon millions of plastic bottles won’t be dumped in landfills or the ocean. But let’s be honest, Marriott, along with several other hotel chains who have joined in the plan, are doing this to save money. LOTS of money.

I applaud the effort anyway. We use entirely too much plastic in this world, and I don’t care about their reason for doing it.
